Priests Condemned for Violating the Covenant

2
Chapter 2
1 And now, this commandment is for you, O priests. 2 "If you do not listen and if you do not set it upon your heart to give glory to my name," says the LORD of Hosts, "then I will send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you are not setting it upon your heart." 3 Look, I will rebuke your seed, and I will scatter dung on your faces—the dung of your feasts—and it will carry you off with it. 4 You will know that I have sent this commandment to you so that my covenant may be with Levi, says the LORD of Hosts. 5 My covenant was with him: life and peace. And I gave them to him as terror. He feared me and was humbled before my name. 6 The Torah of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips. In peace and uprightness he walked with me, and he turned many back from iniquity. 7 For a priest's lips should preserve knowledge, and people should seek Torah from his mouth, for he is a messenger of the LORD of Hosts. 8 But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble in the Torah. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of Hosts. 9 So I have made you despised and lowly before all the people, just as you have not kept my way but have shown partiality in the Torah.
